For minimizing our environmental footprint

Harvia strives to reduce the greenhouse gas emissions of its operations to limit global warming and contribute to global efforts in safeguarding the environment. That requires systematic actions in several areas, such as energy use, logistics, and purchasing.

Harvia uses renewable and emission-free energy in its production and facilities whenever possible. Optimizing the logistics of raw materials and products helps reduce emissions from transportation. Streamlined purchasing and production processes have enabled Harvia to optimize material use, improve productivity, and reduce waste, leading to reduced operating costs.

We strive to minimize the ecological footprint of our operations to limit global warming and contribute to global efforts in safeguarding the environment.

Mika Suoja, Head of Operations

Harvia aims to minimize the ecological footprint of its operations. Harvia’s emissions calculation is performed according to the GHG Protocol (Greenhouse Gas Protocol). In 2024, Harvia’s group-wide Scope 1 CO₂ emissions amounted to 1,027 tCO₂ (947), while its market-based Scope 2 emissions reached 1,401 tCO₂ (923). Market-based total emissions increased by 30% compared to 2023 due to increased production and the lack of availability in emission-free energy at Harvia’s facilities in the United States and China. The share of emission-free electricity in 2024 was 76%. More detailed emissions data is available in Harvia’s Sustainability Statement. Solar panels at Harvia’s Muurame factory produced 125 MWh (124.3) of electricity in 2024.
