Harvia is the global leader in sauna solutions with expertise in different sauna cultures and types. This is reflected in the company’s product range, as different markets want different products.
Harvia responds to market needs with five product categories: Heating equipment, Saunas and Scandinavian hot tubs, Steam products, Accessories and sauna stones, as well as Spare parts and services.
Harvia aims to bring new, innovative products and solutions to the market, especially in the sauna category, to expand the company’s offering, especially outside Europe, and to strengthen the company’s digital capabilities. In addition, Harvia is focused on increasing automation and improving efficiency across its operations and ensuring that operations support the company’s long-term growth. For example, some manual production processes at the Muurame factory have been automated. Thanks to robotics and new machinery, efficiency and productivity have improved significantly.
Harvia aims to design sauna solutions that consume less energy. In addition to the sauna heater, the materials, insulation and ventilation of a sauna have a significant impact on its energy consumption.
Harvia launched the world’s first solar-powered electric sauna in 2024. The Kirami FinVision Zero -sauna is an excellent example of Harvia’s work to develop more energy-efficient and sustainable sauna solutions. In June 2025, Harvia and Toyota announced they are co-developing a concept model for hydrogen sauna. Hydrogen is an attractive heating method as the system emits no CO2 during use.
Over the years, Harvia has researched wood burning in terms of fine particle emissions, but also in order to optimize the heat to wood efficiency ratio of wood-burning heaters.
R&D has resulted in products such as the Harvia GreenFlame heater. Its advanced design guarantees 70% lower fine particle emissions compared to a regular wood-burning heater of the same size.
Harvia has also explored the opposite of healing heat, namely cold exposure therapy. Regularly exposing the body to cold water for short periods of time offers several health benefits such as improved immunity, stress reduction, improved sleep quality, faster recovery after exercise, pain relief, and activating brown fat.
In 2023, Harvia launched the Harvia Frosty cold plunge for households.
Harvia saunas are available with various digital solutions, such as light and sound systems and Wi-Fi-compatible control centers. New digital technologies and remote control of sauna are attracting consumer interest, especially in the United States. ThermaSol’s expertise in smart technologies enables offering customers even more advanced and personalized wellness experiences.
Harvia continuously seeks to develop digital solutions and increase automation also in internal operations to improve efficiency and customer experience.
Innovation is also reflected in the design of Harvia’s products. EOS heaters in particular are like works of art.
Harvia’s Cilindro electric heater, which has become very popular thanks to its design, was introduced in 2024 as a wood-burning version.
Different sauna markets and cultures have different reasons and ways to enjoy sauna, satisfied by Harvia’s comprehensive product portfolio. The company is constantly introducing new products to the market that meet local demand and regulations, for example, regarding power sources.
In Finland, saunas are part of everyday life. There are over 3 million saunas and 5.6 million people in the country. Residential saunas usually have an electric or wood-burning heater. Sauna bathing is strongly associated with cleansing oneself, but it is also a social event.
The sauna culture in Continental Europe, especially in Central Europe, is focused on well-being and relaxation. Saunas can be found, for example, in spas and hotels, but increasingly also in private homes. In addition to traditional saunas, infrared saunas are popular.
The North American sauna culture is still evolving. The development is driven by the wellness trend. Infrared saunas, steam showers, and both wood-burning and electric saunas can be found in homes, gyms, spas, and wellness centers. There is a thriving backyard culture in the United States. More and more, the backyards also feature outdoor barrel saunas.
A key market for Harvia in Asia is Japan, where sauna and bathing culture are an important and large part of the culture and history. In onsen and sento spas, sauna bathing is associated with many rituals. Cleansing oneself and silence are an essential part of the Japanese sauna experience. Infrared saunas are popular in urban wellness centers.
The heating equipment offering covers sauna heaters, control units and infrared components. Heating equipment is Harvia’s largest product category, accounting for 53.6% of the revenue in 2024.
Harvia offers sauna rooms for both indoor and outdoor use, sauna interiors, and Scandinavian still-water hot tubs. In 2024, the share of this category was 26.7% of the revenue.
Harvia’s steam product offering includes steam showers and saunas for the residential and professional market. ThermaSol offers steam generators, steam and shower heads, digital control units, and smart shower components. Steam products represented 6.1% of the revenue in 2024.
The product category includes heater stones, sauna accessories, such as textiles and sauna scents, and other complementary products, such as sound and light solutions and water hygiene products. The category represented 6.9% of the revenue in 2024.
Harvia offers sauna heater spare parts, installation and maintenance services. The category generated 6.7% of the revenue in 2024.
Harvia has five well-known brands in the market: Harvia, EOS, Almost Heaven Saunas, Kirami, and ThermaSol.
